Academy Inanna Music welcomes renowned Afghan musician and master of the Rubab and Sarod, Ustad Daud Khan Sadozai, for a special workshop dedicated to the musical traditions of Afghanistan and North India.
The workshop offers musicians the opportunity to explore Afghan classical and folk repertoire, Indian Raga and Tala, rhythmic and melodic structures, traditional songs, and the principles of improvisation.
The workshop is open to musicians of different instruments.
You do not need to play the Rubab or Sarod to participate. Musicians from different musical backgrounds are welcome to bring their own instruments and discover this repertoire through listening, repetition and collective musical practice.
The workshop follows the traditional oral method of learning: melodies and rhythmic structures are learned by ear and gradually internalised through playing together.
